DR Strings Victor Wooten PBVW-40 PURE BLUES™ Quantum Nickel™ Bass Extra Light 40-95
The modern American bass player uses elements from many styles of music to personalize their sound, so their strings need to be up to the task and respond to whatever the music demands.
DR Pure Blues bass strings combine the warm tone of pure nickel with the brightness and edge of stainless steel for a rich and tonally balanced string that is perfect for players who demand versatility. Whether you play fingerstyle, with a pick, or slap, your bass will come alive with a full bottom, colorful mids, and bright articulate highs.
WOUND BY HAND
Making their bass strings by hand allows them to closely monitor quality, make micro adjustments throughout the winding process, and add a human element that they feel can’t be duplicated by a machine.
Victor Wooten, the youngest of five boys, began learning to play music at the tender age of two. He started performing in nightclubs and theaters as the bassist with the family band at age five, and at age six, was on tour with his brothers opening shows for legendary soul artist Curtis Mayfield. Wooten, now a five-time Grammy winner, hit the worldwide scene in 1990 as a founding member of the acclaimed Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Among other things, he is a loving husband and father of four, a skilled naturalist and teacher, a published author, a magician and acrobat, and has won every major award given to a bass guitarist including being voted Bassist of the Year in Bass Player Magazine's readers poll three times.
He is the only person to win it more than once.
DR's new alloy combines the smooth feel of pure nickel with the punch and brightness of stainless steel.
Round Core Wire
Round core strings ensure consistent contact with the wrap wire. “These strings have more sustain and flexibility,” says Victor Wooten.
